Casco Bay Roller Derby welcomes people ages 18+ of all genders and practices most Sundays at Happy Wheels in Westbrook, Maine. We take prospective new members any time and will teach them to skate and play safely, or to officiate (on or off skates).
New skaters must bring their own mouth guard (available at stores like Walmart or sporting goods stores). Casco Bay can lend you any of the other required gear that you may not have yet: quad skates, helmet, knee and elbow pads, wrist guards.
Each practice for rookies is $15. After your first practice, you may choose to join the league for $50/month, or you may continue to attend practices for $15/each for up to 30 days from your first practice without joining as a league member. Your first month’s dues will be reduced by the amount paid for individual practices that calendar month. On becoming a league member, skaters must purchase individual insurance coverage for $80/year (as of 2026).
Assistance is available if practice or membership cost is prohibitive.
